For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of cayenne pepper or some diced bell peppers to the mix. If fresh shrimp is unavailable, frozen shrimp can be used; just ensure they are thawed before cooking. For a lighter version, substitute olive oil for vegetable oil and use diced tomatoes with green chilies. This dish pairs beautifully with Ann'S Etouffee.
