Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup grated Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp. caraway seed
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
  • Swiss cheese slices

Instructions

  1. Combine the ground beef, egg, grated Swiss cheese, chopped onion, dry bread crumbs, caraway seed, salt, pepper, and 1/4 cup of tomato sauce. Mix well and form into a loaf.
  2. Place the loaf in a shallow baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes.
  3. Spoon the remaining tomato sauce over the top of the loaf.
  4. Cover with Swiss cheese slices and garnish with parsley.
  5. Continue baking for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese melts and the loaf is heated through.
