Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 (12 oz.) can corn, drained
  • 1 cup chopped olives
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 to 5 teaspoons chili powder
  • dash of pepper
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook onion, green pepper, and ground beef in a large deep skillet until beef is lightly browned.
  2. Add tomato sauce, drained corn, chopped olives, minced garlic, sugar, salt, chili powder, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in shredded cheese until melted.
  4. Pour the mixture into a greased 10 x 10-inch baking dish.
  5. Top with Cornmeal Topping.
  6. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 minutes or until bubbly.
