- Place 4 slices of white bread in the bottom of a buttered baking pan.
- Mix mayonnaise with tuna, chopped celery, chopped green pepper, chopped onion, and 1 can of cream of mushroom soup.
- Spread this mixture evenly over the bread in the pan.
- Cover with the remaining bread slices.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and milk together well.
- Pour the egg and milk mixture over the layered bread and filling.
- Let stand at least 4 hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld.
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Bake the casserole for 20 minutes.
- Remove from oven and spread the remaining can of mushroom soup over the top, then sprinkle with grated cheese and paprika.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 45 to 50 minutes until bubbly and golden.
