Ingredients

  • 2 cans tuna
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 chopped green pepper
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 8 slices white bread
  • 1 cup grated cheese

Instructions

  1. Place 4 slices of white bread in the bottom of a buttered baking pan.
  2. Mix mayonnaise with tuna, chopped celery, chopped green pepper, chopped onion, and 1 can of cream of mushroom soup.
  3. Spread this mixture evenly over the bread in the pan.
  4. Cover with the remaining bread slices.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and milk together well.
  6. Pour the egg and milk mixture over the layered bread and filling.
  7. Let stand at least 4 hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld.
  8. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Bake the casserole for 20 minutes.
  9. Remove from oven and spread the remaining can of mushroom soup over the top, then sprinkle with grated cheese and paprika.
  10. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 45 to 50 minutes until bubbly and golden.
