Veal Cordon Bleu features tender veal cutlets filled with Swiss cheese and ham, breaded and pan-fried to golden perfection, offering a savory, cheesy, and satisfying meal suitable for special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 8 veal cutlets
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 thin slices ham
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup fine, dry bread crumbs
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 Tbsp. oil

Instructions

  1. Pound veal cutlets with a mallet to flatten and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Place a slice of Swiss cheese and a slice of ham on each cutlet, ensuring they do not overlap.
  3. Top each with another veal cutlet and pound the edges to seal the filling.
  4. Roll each veal parcel in flour.
  5. Dip the rolled cutlets in beaten egg, then coat with bread crumbs.
  6. Saute in butter and oil until browned on all sides.
  7. Place the cooked cutlets in a baking dish.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 to 35 minutes until cooked through.
