Ingredients

  • 2 lb. cabbage, partly cooked and drained
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 medium green pepper
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 small can tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1/4 cup vinegar

Instructions

  1. Saute ground beef, chopped green pepper, and chopped onion until cooked.
  2. Add cooked rice to the beef mixture and mix well.
  3. In a baking dish, spread half of the meat and rice mixture.
  4. Layer half of the partly cooked and drained cabbage on top.
  5. Pour one can of undiluted cream of mushroom soup over the cabbage layer.
  6. Repeat with the remaining meat and rice mixture, cabbage, and soup layers.
  7. Blend brown sugar, mustard, and vinegar to make a sweet and sour sauce.
  8. Spread the sauce evenly over the top layer.
  9. Bake at 325°F (163°C) for 1 to 1.5 hours until heated through and bubbly.
