Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sifted flour ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon baking powder ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon salt ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves ⓘ
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg ⓘ
- 1 cup brown sugar ⓘ
- 3/4 cup shortening ⓘ
- 1 egg ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon water ⓘ
- 1 cup diced apples ⓘ
- 1 1/2 cups uncooked rolled oats ⓘ
- 1 cup raisins ⓘ
Instructions
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, soda, salt, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and nutmeg.
- Add shortening, brown sugar, egg, and water to the dry ingredients and beat until thoroughly mixed.
- Stir in diced apples, rolled oats, and raisins. The mixture will be stiff.
- Make balls of dough about the size of a large walnut and roll in a mixture of 2 tablespoons of cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon sugar.
- Place the cookies on a baking sheet and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 8 to 10 minutes.
