Ingredients

  • 3 lb. beef, cubed
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 3 c. chopped onion
  • 1 lb. carrots, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 c. beef stock or broth
  • 1 1/2 tsp. fines herbes
  • 1 (12 oz.) can beer
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. water

Instructions

  1. Coat cubes of beef in flour.
  2. Heat oil in a large pan.
  3. Add meat and brown on all sides.
  4. Add chopped onions, sliced carrots, minced garlic, beef stock, beer, bay leaves, fines herbes, pepper, and salt.
  5. Bring to a boil.
  6. Reduce heat and cover.
  7. Simmer for 1.5 hours or until meat is tender, adding water as necessary.
