- Cook bacon until crisp, remove from pan, and crumble.
- Reserve 2 tablespoons bacon drippings in the pan.
- Saute chopped onions, garlic, and bell pepper in the bacon drippings.
- Stir in mashed turnips, beaten eggs, evaporated milk, crumbled bread, and melted butter.
- Spoon the mixture into a 3-quart casserole dish.
- Top with crumbled bacon and chopped green onion tops.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
