Beef Strips Oriental
A savory stir-fry of tender beef strips with colorful vegetables, flavored with ginger, soy, and lemon, perfect for a quick, flavorful Asian-inspired meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. chuck, flank or round steak ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. ginger ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. soy sauce ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. lemon juice ⓘ
- 1 large pepper, sliced
- 1 large carrot, sliced ⓘ
- 1 1/4 cups chicken broth ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch ⓘ
- 2 cans chow mein vegetables ⓘ
- 1 cup chow mein noodles ⓘ
- 2 onions, sliced ⓘ
- hot cooked rice ⓘ
- 2 celery stalks, cut in large pieces
Instructions
- Cut the steak into 1/4-inch strips and place in a shallow dish.
- Combine ginger, garlic powder, black pepper, and brown sugar in a bowl.
- Add soy sauce, lemon juice, and 1 cup chicken broth; mix well.
- Pour the marinade over the meat and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours.
- In a large skillet or wok, melt butter over medium-high heat.
- Add marinated beef strips and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add sliced onions, large sliced peppers, large sliced carrots, and celery stalks; stir-fry until vegetables are tender-crisp.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with remaining chicken broth to make a slurry.
- Stir the slurry into the skillet to thicken the sauce.
- Add chow mein vegetables and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Cook chow mein noodles according to package instructions.
- Serve beef and vegetables over hot cooked rice, topped with noodles.
