Beef Stroganov Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef boneless sirloin or possibly top loin steak, 1/2 inch thick
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 8 ounce. mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 med. onions, sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 teaspoon instant beef bouillon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 c. lowfat sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard

Instructions

  1. Cut beef across grain into strips, 1 1/2 x 1/2 inches.
  2. It is easier to cut if the meat is a little bit frzn.
  3. Heat 2 Tbsp.
  4. butter in skillet till melted.
  5. Add in mushrooms, onions, and garlic.
  6. Cover and simmer till onions are tender, 5 - 10 min.
  7. Remove vegetables from pan.
  8. Cook the beef in 2 Tbsp.
  9. butter over medium heat till brown, about 10 min.
  10. Add in water, bouillon, salt and pepper.
  11. Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
  12. Cover and simmer till beef is done, 10 to 15 min.
  13. Add in vegetable mix, heat to boiling, reduce heat.
  14. Stir in lowfat sour cream and mustard.
  15. Serve over noodles or possibly rice.
