Ingredients

  • 2 lb. blue fish fillets
  • 2 lb. potatoes
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. horseradish
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. Old Bay
  • 2 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 c. vinegar

Instructions

  1. Cook the blue fish fillets in 1 cup vinegar, 6 cups water, and 1/4 cup Old Bay seasoning until done. Drain thoroughly.
  2. Boil potatoes until tender, then mash them smoothly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked, flaked fish, mashed potatoes, chopped onion, chopped green pepper, chopped celery, eggs, prepared mustard, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, mayonnaise, black pepper, and Old Bay seasoning.
  4. Mix all ingredients well until thoroughly combined.
  5. Form the mixture into patties or cakes of desired size.
  6. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the fish cakes until golden brown on each side, about 4-5 minutes per side.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
