Ingredients

  • 1 package Pillsbury pie crust (for a 9-inch double-crust pie)
  • 2 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 medium carrots, diced
  • 1 large potato, peeled and diced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 3 Tbsp fresh basil, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the pie crust according to package instructions and line a 9-inch pie dish with one crust.
  3. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add diced onions and cook until translucent.
  4. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  5. Stir in diced carrots, peeled and diced potato, and crushed garlic. Cook for a few minutes.
  6. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well to combine.
  7. Gradually add beef stock, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  8. Add chopped fresh basil and marjoram (or dried herbs), season with salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.
  10. Cover with the second pie crust, seal the edges, and cut small slits on top to vent.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  12. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
