Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • mixed vegetables
  • 1 small onion
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery salt
  • sliced American cheese

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, gently cook butter and minced onion for 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Stir in flour, salt, and dry mustard, then gradually add milk while stirring.
  3. Add pepper, celery salt, and salt to the sauce.
  4. Arrange a layer of drained vegetables in a baking dish.
  5. Place a layer of sliced American cheese over the vegetables.
  6. Pour a layer of the prepared cream sauce over the cheese.
  7. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, ending with the cream sauce on top.
  8. Sprinkle with crumbs and frozen pieces of onion rings.
  9. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
