Ingredients

  • 1 lb. fish fillets
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 6 Tbsp. chopped onion
  • 1 cup chopped carrot
  • 6 Tbsp. chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 (10 oz.) cans chicken broth
  • 3 cups milk
  • dash of paprika
  • 1 cup grated processed cheese

Instructions

  1. Cut the fish into 1-inch cubes.
  2. Melt butter in a large saucepan.
  3. Add chopped onion, chopped carrot, and chopped celery.
  4. Cook until the onion is transparent.
  5. Stir in flour, salt, and paprika.
  6. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  7. Gradually add chicken broth and milk, stirring constantly.
  8. Cook until the mixture thickens, stirring constantly.
  9. Add the fish cubes and simmer until the fish flakes easily, about 5 minutes for fresh fish or 10 minutes for frozen.
  10. Stir in the grated processed cheese until melted.
  11. Serve hot.
