Tips & Substitutions

For a fluffier texture, ensure your yeast is fresh and activated properly before mixing it with the other ingredients. If you're out of margarine, unsalted butter can serve as a perfect substitute. You can also experiment with half whole wheat flour for added nutrition. If you want to add flavor, consider mixing in herbs or garlic powder for a savory twist.

Serving Suggestions

These dinner rolls pair beautifully with a warm bowl of soup or a hearty stew, making them a versatile side for any meal. Serve them alongside Our Favorite Fudge for dessert to create a delightful finish to your dinner. Consider buttering them up or spreading Low Cholesterol Dip for an extra layer of flavor.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. For longer storage, freeze the rolls in a zip-top bag for up to a month. To reheat, simply pop them in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes, or microwave for 15-20 seconds until warm.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make the dough ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the dough and let it rise, then punch it down and refrigerate it overnight. Just allow it to come to room temperature and rise again before shaping and baking the rolls.

What can I do if my dough doesn't rise?

If your dough doesn't rise, it could be due to inactive yeast. Always check your yeast's expiration date before use, and make sure the water is lukewarm, not too hot or cold, as it can kill the yeast.

Can I add flavors to these rolls?

Absolutely! You can add herbs like rosemary or thyme to the dough for a fragrant twist. Garlic powder or cheese can also enhance the flavor, creating a savory roll that's perfect for any meal.
