Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 (10 oz.) can tomatoes (unsalted)
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato juice (unsalted)
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup thinly sliced fresh carrots
  • 1 cup diced raw potatoes
  • 1 cup chopped cabbage
  • 1 cup diced green pepper
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen cut green beans
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen whole kernel corn
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/4 tsp. dill weed
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 6 cups water

Instructions

  1. Brown the lean ground beef in a large skillet. Pour off the fat.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients to the skillet.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1 hour or until vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove the bay leaf before serving.
