Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1 envelope plain gelatin
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup chopped cabbage
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped cucumber
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise

Instructions

  1. Add hot water, gelatin, sugar, vinegar, salt, and pepper to a saucepan.
  2. Heat on the stove until the gelatin and sugar are dissolved.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boiling point.
  4. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  5. Add chopped cabbage, green pepper, cucumber, onion, and celery to the cooled mixture.
  6. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
  7. Pour into a dish and let it set in the refrigerator until jellied.
  8. Cut into squares and serve on lettuce leaves.
