Hearty Hamburger Pie
A hearty, savory pie combining ground beef, potatoes, mushrooms, and cheese, baked to perfection with flavorful herbs—perfect for comforting family dinners or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
- 9-inch pie crust ⓘ
- 1 lb. lean ground beef ⓘ
- 1 egg ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. salt ⓘ
- 1/4 cup dry bread crumbs ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. ground cumin seed ⓘ
- 1/8 tsp. garlic powder ⓘ
- 1 tsp. dry mustard ⓘ
- 1 tsp. Italian dried herbs
- 1 medium onion sliced and separated ⓘ
- 1 1/4 cups mushrooms sliced ⓘ
- 1 1/2 cups potatoes sliced and peeled
- 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. dried parsley flakes ⓘ
Instructions
- Combine ground beef with egg, salt, bread crumbs, cumin, garlic powder, mustard, and Italian dried herbs.
- Layer the pie crust with sliced potatoes, separated onion slices, and sliced mushrooms, leaving some mushrooms to encircle the pie.
- Cover the assembled pie with foil and bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
- Cook a little longer if the potatoes are not tender.
- Remove from oven, top with shredded Swiss and Cheddar cheeses and dried parsley flakes.
- Return to the oven just until the cheese melts, then serve.
