Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked macaroni
  • 2 cups hot milk
  • 1 cup grated cheese (American or Cheddar)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green pepper
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 2 slices bread, broken into pieces

Instructions

  1. Heat the hot milk and add the grated cheese, chopped onion, chopped green pepper, melted butter, and salt. Stir until the cheese is melted.
  2. Mix in the beaten egg yolks.
  3. Combine the mixture with cooked macaroni and broken bread pieces in a casserole dish.
  4. Fold in the stiffly beaten egg whites gently.
  5. Bake in a pan of water at 350°F for 45 minutes.
