Ingredients

  • 1 c. elbow macaroni
  • boiling water
  • 3/4 lb. extra lean ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1/4 c. minced onion
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c. red cooking wine
  • 1/2 c. chili sauce or ketchup
  • 1 green pepper, seeded
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded lettuce
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni in boiling water for 15 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet with butter, minced onion, salt, and flour until fully cooked.
  3. Add red cooking wine, chili sauce or ketchup, diced green pepper, and Worcestershire sauce to the meat mixture.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then toss with the cooked macaroni.
  5. Fold in shredded cheese, reserving some for garnish, and serve.
