Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 minced garlic bud
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tsp. cumin
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme
  • 1/8 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 c. water
  • 5 tsp. chili powder
  • 2 Tbsp. fat
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 can tomatoes
  • 1/2 c. celery
  • 1/2 c. chopped green peppers
  • 1 can red kidney beans

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a skillet and drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, bay leaves, cumin, thyme, black pepper, water, chili powder, chopped celery, and chopped green peppers to the pot.
  3. Stir in the canned tomatoes, red kidney beans, fat, and flour.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
