Indian Saggost(Beef And Spinach Curry)

Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp. butter ⓘ
- 1 Tbsp. oil ⓘ
- 2 onions, finely chopped ⓘ
- 1 clove garlic, crushed ⓘ
- 1 inch fresh ginger root, finely chopped
- 1 tsp. ground turmeric ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. chili powder ⓘ
- 1 Tbsp. ground coriander
- 1 tsp. ground mustard seed ⓘ
- 1 1/2 to 2 lb. stewing steak, cut in 1-inch cubes ⓘ
- 8 oz. frozen spinach, drained ⓘ
- 10 oz. unflavored yogurt ⓘ
Instructions
- Heat butter and oil in a large pan.
- Add chopped onions, crushed garlic, and spices; fry over medium heat until onions are soft.
- Add the stewing beef and fry, stirring occasionally, until browned.
- Stir in drained frozen spinach and half of the yogurt. Cover and simmer over low heat for 2 hours, until the meat is tender.
- Add a little water during cooking if needed.
- Before serving, stir in the remaining yogurt.
- Serve with rice and mango chutney.
