Tips & Substitutions

For added depth of flavor, sauté the mushrooms and onions until they are caramelized. You can substitute the chicken breasts with chicken thighs for a juicier result. If you prefer a creamier sauce, consider stirring in a splash of heavy cream or using a jar of store-bought Spaghetti Sauce(Makes 3 Quarts) instead of plain tomato sauce.

Serving Suggestions

This Italian Chicken Dinner is delicious served over cooked noodles, but it also pairs well with a side of garlic bread or a fresh green salad. For a complete meal, consider serving it alongside Italian Rice And Peas for a delightful combination of flavors.

Storage & Reheating

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the chicken in a baking dish and cover with foil to prevent drying out. Heat in a preheated oven at 350°F until warmed through, about 20 minutes.

Yes, you can use frozen chicken breasts, but it's best to thaw them first for even cooking. If they are still frozen, you may need to adjust the baking time to ensure they are cooked thoroughly.

What can I substitute for mozzarella cheese?

If you don’t have mozzarella, you can use provolone or fontina cheese for a different flavor profile. For a lower-fat option, consider using part-skim mozzarella or even a dairy-free cheese alternative.
