Ingredients

  • 8 strips bacon
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2 green bell pepper
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 1 extra large can pork-n-beans
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Fry the bacon until crispy, crumble 4 slices and set aside, and keep the bacon drippings.
  2. Saute chopped onion and green bell pepper in the bacon drippings until tender.
  3. Add ground beef to the vegetables and brown until cooked through, then drain excess fat.
  4. Combine the crumbled bacon, cooked ground beef mixture, pork-n-beans, light brown sugar, dry mustard, and Worcestershire sauce in a bowl.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased shallow casserole dish.
  6. Lay the remaining 4 strips of bacon across the top of the bean mixture.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes until bubbly and browned.
