Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 can cream-style corn
  • 1 1/2 cups sweet milk
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1/2 pound shredded cheese
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons lard
  • 3 hot peppers
  • 1/2 cup flour

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients except the cheese together.
  2. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan.
  3. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the batter.
  4. Pour the remaining batter over the cheese layer.
  5. Top with the remaining cheese.
  6. Bake for 1 hour at 325°F until golden and cooked through.
