Tips & Substitutions
For a richer chocolate flavor, consider using dark cocoa powder instead of regular unsweetened cocoa. If you want to reduce sugar, you can substitute half the sugar with a sugar alternative like stevia or monk fruit. To make the Seven Minute Frosting lighter, use egg whites from pasteurized eggs. Ensure to sift the dry ingredients to avoid lumps and achieve a smoother batter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a different type of milk in this recipe?
Yes, you can substitute nonfat milk with almond milk, soy milk, or any plant-based milk of your choice. Just be mindful that the flavor and texture may slightly change, but it will still yield a delicious cake.
What can I use instead of baby food prunes?
If you don't have baby food prunes, you can make your own by blending pitted prunes with a bit of water until smooth. Alternatively, unsweetened applesauce can work as a substitute, although it will alter the flavor slightly.
How do I know when the cake is done baking?
To check if the cake is done, insert a wooden pick into the center of the cake. If it comes out clean or with just a few crumbs attached, the cake is ready. If there is wet batter on the pick, continue baking for a few more minutes and check again.
