- Trim the fat from the pork chops.
- Place the fat in a large skillet and fry until approximately 2 tablespoons of grease accumulate.
- Remove the trimmings.
- Coat the pork chops in a mixture of flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Place chops in the skillet and brown well, about 10 minutes per side.
- In a 3-quart casserole, combine water, parsley, cloves, salt, bay leaf, and pepper.
- Place halved carrots and halved potatoes in the casserole.
- Generously sprinkle with salt and arrange the pork chops on top of the vegetables.
- Place thinly sliced onions on top of the pork chops.
- Cover the casserole.
- Bake at 350°F for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
