Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups sifted flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1 (6 oz.) package chocolate chips
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  3. Combine sugars, shortening, cinnamon, and nutmeg; blend well.
  4. Beat in egg; gradually mix in dry ingredients, alternating with pumpkin.
  5. Stir in chocolate chips, raisins, and chopped nuts.
  6. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto lightly greased baking sheets.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 14 to 16 minutes.
