Scalloped Cabbage Dish

Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp margarine ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp flour ⓘ
- 1 tsp salt ⓘ
- 1 Tbsp chopped parsley
- 2 to 3 cups finely shredded cabbage ⓘ
- 1 1/2 cups thinly sliced potatoes ⓘ
- 1 large onion, sliced ⓘ
- 1 large or 2 medium carrots, sliced thinly ⓘ
- 2 stalks celery, cut in 1/2-inch pieces ⓘ
- 1 cup cubed Canadian bacon or smoky ham ⓘ
- 1 cup grated Cheddar cheese ⓘ
- 2 cups milk ⓘ
- dash paprika ⓘ
Instructions
- In a saucepan, melt the margarine.
- Stir in flour, salt, and dashes of paprika and white pepper.
- Slowly add milk while stirring to avoid lumps.
- Cook until fairly thick, stirring constantly.
- Layer shredded cabbage, sliced potatoes, sliced onion, sliced carrots, celery pieces, and cubed Canadian bacon or ham in a baking dish.
- Pour the prepared white sauce over the layered ingredients.
- Sprinkle grated Cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 40 minutes until bubbly and golden.
