Ingredients

  • 2 lb beef roast
  • 2 onions
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 4 bay leaves
  • salt
  • 2 bell peppers
  • 6 to 10 stalks celery
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • pepper
  • 6 to 10 carrots
  • 4 to 6 potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Gather all utensils: large pot, long spoon, sharp knives, tripod, easy chair, firewood, matches, Assistant Scoutmasters, rope with hook, skillet.
  2. Prepare the vegetables by chopping onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, celery stalks, carrots, and potatoes.
  3. Cut the beef roast into bite-sized pieces.
  4. In the large pot, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over a fire or stove.
  5. Brown the beef pieces in the hot oil until they are well-seared.
  6. Add chopped onions and garlic to the pot and sauté until translucent.
  7. Stir in the flour to coat the meat and vegetables, then add Worcestershire sauce.
  8. Pour in water or broth to cover the ingredients and bring to a boil.
  9. Add bay leaves, salt, and pepper to taste.
  10. Reduce heat, cover, and let simmer for about 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  11. Add chopped tomatoes, bell peppers, celery, carrots, and potatoes during the cooking process.
  12. Continue simmering until vegetables are tender and flavors meld.
  13. Remove bay leaves before serving and enjoy your Scoutmaster's Stew.
