Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, sear the stew meat before adding it to the pot. You can substitute the firm white fish with any other meaty fish like cod or halibut if preferred. If you can't find Swiss chard, spinach or kale can be used as alternatives. Consider adding a splash of Worcestershire sauce for an extra depth of flavor.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this hearty stew with crusty bread or over a bed of rice for a filling meal. A simple side salad pairs nicely to balance the richness. For an elevated experience, consider serving alongside Tuna Tabouli(Strict Fast) or a light white wine to complement the flavors. This dish also makes for excellent leftovers.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, gently warm on the stovetop over low heat, adding a splash of water or broth to maintain moisture. Alternatively, you can microwave in short intervals, stirring frequently until heated through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use frozen seafood in this stew?

Yes, you can use frozen seafood, but make sure to thaw it before adding to the stew. This will help ensure even cooking and a better texture. Just be cautious not to overcook the seafood as it can become tough.

What can I substitute for the cream of mushroom soup?

If you prefer a healthier option, you can make a homemade version using sautéed mushrooms, garlic, and a roux of butter and flour mixed with milk. This will add a fresh taste while keeping the creaminess intact.

How can I adjust the spiciness of the stew?

To adjust the spiciness, you can either reduce the amount of red peppers or add a teaspoon of sugar to balance the heat. If you enjoy heat, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes for an extra kick.
