Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. fat
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 c. diced onion
  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 c. uncooked rice
  • 5 to 6 c. water
  • 1 c. diced potatoes
  • 1 c. diced carrots
  • 1 to 2 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 Tbsp. pepper
  • parsley

Instructions

  1. Brown onion, garlic, fat, and ground beef in a large pot.
  2. Cook until the beef is browned, then add rice and water.
  3. Simmer uncovered for 40 minutes.
  4. Add diced potatoes and carrots.
  5. Continue simmering, covered, for 20 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  6. Season with soy sauce, salt, and pepper.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with parsley.
