Tips & Substitutions

For a bolder flavor, consider adding a splash of lime juice or a sprinkle of cilantro before serving. You can substitute the shrimp with chicken or tofu for variation. If you prefer a milder dish, reduce the cayenne pepper or omit it entirely. For added crunch, try including water chestnuts or bell peppers in the stir-fry, similar to the approach in Oodles Shrimp Stir-Fry.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the stir-fried shrimp over a bed of steamed rice or noodles for a complete meal. Pair with a light salad or a side of steamed vegetables for balance. This dish also complements well with sesame vegetables and rice, making it a delightful combination for a family dinner.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat, use a skillet over medium heat for a few minutes until heated through, or microwave in short intervals, stirring in between. Avoid overcooking during reheating to keep the shrimp tender.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use frozen shrimp for this recipe?

Yes, you can use frozen shrimp, but ensure they are fully thawed and drained before cooking. This prevents excess water from affecting the stir-fry's texture. Pat them dry with paper towels for best results.

What can I substitute for peanut oil?

If you need a substitute for peanut oil, consider using vegetable oil or canola oil. Both have high smoke points and neutral flavors, making them suitable for stir-frying. For a nutty flavor, you could also use sesame oil, though it should be mixed with a lighter oil to prevent overpowering the dish.

How can I make this dish spicier?

To increase the spiciness, you can add more cayenne pepper or include sliced jalapeños or red pepper flakes when stir-frying. A splash of sriracha or chili sauce can also elevate the heat level and add a nice depth of flavor.
