Ingredients

  • 1 c. soft bread crumbs
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. finely chopped celery
  • 2 Tbsp. finely chopped onion
  • 1 tsp. Dijon style mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • dash of pepper
  • 1/2 c. applesauce
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vinegar

Instructions

  1. Blend all ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Shape the mixture into a round loaf in an 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan.
  3. With a spoon, make a crater-like depression in the top of the loaf.
  4. Combine applesauce, brown sugar, vinegar, and mustard; pour this mixture into the depression.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
