Ingredients

  • 1 tsp butter or margarine
  • 4 or 5 cups coarsely shredded cabbage
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cups thinly sliced potatoes
  • 1 tsp caraway seed
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add shredded cabbage and chopped onion, mixing well.
  3. Arrange sliced potatoes over the cabbage mixture and sprinkle with caraway seed.
  4. Crumble ground beef over the potatoes, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  5. Pour tomato sauce over the ground beef.
  6. Cover the skillet and cook over low heat for 30 to 35 minutes or until the meat is done.
