Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 slices stale bread
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3/4 pound chuck, chopped
  • 1 medium onion
  • butter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon white cornmeal
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup dry white wine
  • 1 teaspoon chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Crumble slices of stale bread and soak in milk.
  2. Add ground beef (chuck) and finely chopped onion; sauté in butter.
  3. Mix in beaten eggs, white cornmeal, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  4. Combine the mixture thoroughly and let it stand for 1 hour or more.
