Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread
  • 2 cups crab or shrimp
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 onion
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1 cup celery
  • 3 cups milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup mushroom soup
  • grated cheese
  • paprika

Instructions

  1. Dice 4 slices of bread into a buttered baking dish.
  2. Mix crab or shrimp, mayonnaise, chopped onion, chopped green bell pepper, and chopped celery.
  3. Spread the mixture on the bread in the baking dish.
  4. Trim crusts from the remaining 4 slices of bread and place them on top of the mixture.
  5. Beat the eggs separately.
  6. Add milk to the beaten eggs and pour the mixture over the casserole.
  7. Refrigerate overnight.
  8. Bake at 325°F for 15 minutes.
  9. Remove from oven and spread mushroom soup on top.
  10. Sprinkle with grated cheese and paprika.
  11. Bake for an additional hour at 325°F.
