Ingredients

  • 1 lb. stew meat (London broil)
  • 1 lb. kielbasa
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 can sauerkraut (32 oz.)
  • 1 can whole tomatoes (14 oz.)
  • 2 medium carrots
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 can prunes (12 oz.)
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 Tbsp. dark brown sugar
  • 2 bay leaves

Instructions

  1. In a large heavy skillet or Dutch oven, brown stew meat in olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Reduce heat to low and add garlic and onion; cook until onion is clear.
  3. Add sauerkraut, whole tomatoes, sliced carrots, prunes, kielbasa, brown sugar, and bay leaves.
  4. Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
  5. Serve with boiled potatoes, heavy bread, and sliced Edam cheese.
