Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup Crisco
  • 2 2/3 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 can pumpkin
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 3 1/3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 2/3 cup nuts (optional)
  • 2/3 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream together sugar, Crisco, and eggs.
  2. Add pumpkin and water; mix well.
  3. Sift together flour, soda, salt, baking powder, cinnamon, and cloves.
  4. Stir in nuts and raisins if using.
  5. Pour batter into prepared loaf pans.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour and 10 minutes.
