Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider adding sautéed mushrooms to the patties or the sauce. If you don't have fresh parsley, dried parsley can be used as a substitute. You can also swap ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option. For added moisture, incorporating grated zucchini or carrots into the mixture works well.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Salisbury Steak Deluxe with creamy mashed potatoes or egg noodles to soak up the delicious sauce. Steamed green beans or a fresh garden salad make excellent side dishes. For a twist, pair it with Becky'S Beans for a heartier meal. Don't forget to garnish with extra chopped parsley for a pop of color.

Storage & Reheating

Leftover Salisbury Steak can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the patties and sauce in a skillet over medium heat, adding a splash of water if necessary to prevent drying out, and cook until heated through. Alternatively, use a microwave-safe dish covered with a lid for a quick reheat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make Salisbury steak in advance?

Yes, you can prepare the patties and sauce ahead of time. Assemble everything and refrigerate, then cook when you're ready to serve. This is ideal for meal prep. Just allow extra time for cooking if the mixture is chilled.

What can I use instead of cream of mushroom soup?

If you prefer a homemade option, you can use a creamy béchamel sauce or make a simple mushroom gravy. Alternatively, cream of chicken soup works well in this recipe for a different flavor profile.

Can I freeze Salisbury steak?

Absolutely! You can freeze both the cooked patties and sauce together. Just ensure they are in an airtight container or freezer bag. They can be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before reheating.
