Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced or pressed
  • 15 oz jar spaghetti sauce
  • 3/4 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp basil
  • 1/4 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup flour

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, cook ground beef on medium-high heat until browned, adding oil as needed.
  2. Drain off all but 2 teaspoons of fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and green pepper, sauté until limp.
  4. Add spaghetti sauce and seasonings, simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.
  5. Spread the meat mixture in the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the meat.
  7. In a blender, add eggs, milk, flour, 1 tablespoon oil, and salt.
  8. Blend until smooth, then pour over the cheese layer.
  9. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F until browned and puffy, about 30 minutes.
