Ingredients

  • 3 lb. chuck roast
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. allspice
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 8 oz. catsup
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 c. vinegar
  • 1 (8 oz.) can mushrooms, drained
  • 2 sliced onions
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 bay leaves

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, salt, pepper, and allspice together and coat the chuck roast with this mixture.
  2. Brown the meat in oil in a 12-inch Dutch oven.
  3. Mix the catsup, garlic powder, vinegar, mushrooms, sliced onions, sugar, and bay leaves together.
  4. Pour the mixture over the browned meat.
  5. Bake in the oven for 2 hours.
