Steak Lo Mein
A flavorful stir-fry featuring tender beef, fresh vegetables, and spaghetti in a savory sauce, perfect for quick weeknight dinners or satisfying lunches.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. round steak, trimmed ⓘ
- 1 tsp. beef bouillon granules
- 3/4 c. water ⓘ
- 1/4 c. soy sauce ⓘ
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil ⓘ
- 1 clove garlic, minced ⓘ
- 2 c. shredded cabbage ⓘ
- 1 c. diagonally sliced carrots, partially cooked ⓘ
- 1 medium onion, sliced into rings ⓘ
- 1/2 c. sliced fresh mushrooms ⓘ
- 1/2 c. diagonally sliced celery ⓘ
- 1/3 c. sliced green onions ⓘ
- 15 fresh snow pea pods, trimmed ⓘ
- 1 (8 oz.) can sliced water chestnuts, drained ⓘ
- 4 oz. thin spaghetti, cooked
Instructions
- Slice the steak into 1/4-inch strips.
- In a bowl, combine beef bouillon granules, water, soy sauce, and cornstarch; set aside.
- Heat oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the steak and minced garlic; stir-fry until the meat is no longer pink.
- Remove the cooked meat from the skillet and set aside.
- Add shredded cabbage, sliced carrots, onion rings, sliced mushrooms, sliced celery, and sliced green onions to the skillet.
- Cook for about 3 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Add the trimmed snow pea pods and drained sliced water chestnuts; cook for about 2 minutes.
- Return the cooked steak to the skillet.
- Pour the prepared bouillon mixture over the vegetables and beef.
- Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce has thickened.
- Gently toss in the cooked spaghetti and heat for about 1 minute before serving.
