Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 2 cups chopped onion
  • 2 cups chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup parsley
  • 2 (8 oz) cans mushrooms, drained
  • 12 to 13 cups dried bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sage
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon marjoram
  • 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 well beaten eggs

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a skillet.
  2. Saute onion, celery, parsley, and mushrooms.
  3. Pour the sautéed mixture over bread crumbs in a large mixing bowl.
  4. Add seasonings and toss to mix well.
  5. Pour enough chicken broth over the mixture to moisten.
  6. Add water and well-beaten eggs and mix thoroughly.
  7. Pack the mixture lightly into the crock-pot.
  8. Cover and cook on high for 45 minutes, then on low for 4 to 8 hours.
