Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 3/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/3 cup chopped celery
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup corn flakes crumbs
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons oregano
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • dash of pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 unbaked 9-inch pastry shells
  • 6 slices American cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef, chopped onion, and chopped celery, stirring to crumble the beef; drain off drippings.
  2. Stir in tomato sauce, corn flakes crumbs, salt, oregano, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper.
  3. Spoon the mixture into two unbaked 9-inch pastry shells.
  4. Bake at 400°F for 25 minutes.
  5. Cut the American cheese slices diagonally in halves and arrange 6 halves on each pie.
  6. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese melts.
  7. Top the pies with tomato sauce before serving.
