Ingredients

  • 3 slices bread
  • 3/4 cup hot milk
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 3/4 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 pound ground pork
  • 3 tablespoons grated onion
  • 3 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fat
  • 2 cups tomato juice
  • 1 teaspoon Kitchen Bouquet
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup chopped carrots
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery

Instructions

  1. Soften bread slices in hot milk and then add the beaten egg.
  2. Mix ground beef and ground pork together.
  3. Add grated onion, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper to the meat mixture.
  4. Combine the bread mixture with the meat mixture and form into balls. Roll the balls in flour.
  5. Brown the meatballs in fat until evenly cooked and browned.
  6. Add tomato juice and Kitchen Bouquet to the skillet with meatballs.
  7. Simmer the mixture for 10 minutes.
  8. Add hot water, chopped carrots, and chopped celery. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes.
  9. Add peas and cook until peas are hot through.
