- Simmer raisins in a little water for 4 to 5 minutes.
- Drain well and set aside.
- Mix uncooked sausage and sugars until well blended.
- Add eggs and mix well.
- Sift together flour, spices, and baking powder.
- Stir baking soda into cold coffee.
- Alternate adding flour mixture and coffee to the meat mixture, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in raisins and chopped nuts.
- Pour the batter into a greased and floured 9-inch tube pan.
- Bake at 350°F for 1 1/2 hours or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving warm or cold.
