Ingredients
- 3/4 cup self-rising flour ⓘ
- 1 1/4 cups self-rising yellow cornmeal mix ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons melted butter ⓘ
- 1 beaten egg ⓘ
- 2 hot peppers, cut-up ⓘ
- 1/2 diced bell pepper ⓘ
- 1 diced tomato ⓘ
- 1 small can cream-style corn ⓘ
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese ⓘ

- pinch of baking soda ⓘ
Instructions
- Mix self-rising flour, self-rising cornmeal, brown sugar, garlic powder, diced bell pepper, diced tomato, cream-style corn, shredded Cheddar cheese, and hot peppers in a bowl.
- In a separate small bowl, beat the egg and combine with buttermilk containing baking soda.
- Pour the buttermilk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Spray a large iron skillet with cooking spray (Pam).
- Pour the batter into the prepared skillet.
- Drizzle melted butter over the top of the batter.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cornbread is golden brown.
