Ingredients

  • 8 oz. spaghetti
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pound cottage cheese
  • 1 pound cooked ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1/4 green pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 jar spaghetti sauce
  • 4 oz. Mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions, then drain and mix with butter, Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and beaten egg.
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef; then drain and rinse.
  3. Cook the ground beef with chopped onion, green pepper, sugar, oregano, and garlic salt until the onion is soft.
  4. Layer in a casserole dish: first the spaghetti mixture, then cottage cheese, followed by the ground beef mixture, and finally the spaghetti sauce.
  5. During the last 10 minutes of baking, sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes until hot and bubbly.
